On a Personal Note…

March 2022. I stood in the lift of a nursing home. My eyes felt heavy, the pain of slowly losing Mum dug deep. I looked around the lift and saw a poster which said “I’ve lost my mum to Dementia, now my family is losing me”. I stared at the words, exhausted and frail, tears streaming down my face… I understood. I knew exactly what that meant.

What we have experienced as a family can only be described as traumatic, BUT it was nothing compared to what a person living with Dementia goes through. It is cruel and unfair. And when there were no adequate words left to describe the ordeal, all I could murmour was “It sucks, Dementia sucks”. Agata

Please join us in fundraising, as WE join others for this year’s Memory Walk in memory of our Mum and Grandma, a beautiful woman, who has dedicated her life to helping others.

💙 We’d appreciate any donation from £1 to a Million for the Alzheimer’s Society to help others face the storm and continue the vital research. If you could share this post on your page, that would be awesome too! 💙

Thank you, from Agata and Family 🙂

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently, there is no cure. We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. After Covid-19, dementia was the leading cause of death in the UK in 2020. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the country currently living with dementia, and their families, to spearhead a campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support now. By taking part and raising sponsorship, or donating to someone who is, you are helping us do this. Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer’s Society. It’s the most efficient way to fundraise, saving time and cutting costs for charities. So, who will you walk for?
