Simply Pride

I held these books in my hands today… little tears of joy and pride twinkled in my eyes. Not a full tsunami, but enough to have a lump in a throat. Not so long ago, these were only images in my mind. Today these books are real. One’s a guide and the other’s a contemplation and practice space. One is founded in education, and the other – the journal – is born from the mind’s chaos and desire for clarity. Through its pages we can work things out, mess things up, admit to getting ‘it’ wrong…. occasionally rant, learn, and most importantly, create a plan for possibly needed change. “The Not So Hidden Code” became my labour of love for you. “Positive Communication Journal” is yours to pass on that love further. How? By creating a space for such.

Communication less complicated…

Purchase Your Book Here

Muddled, negative and misunderstood… These words are only a snapshot of possible miscommunication between family, friends and wider society. Doesn’t it feel heavy to be unheard, unseen and oddly out of place? And what if we… have a similar effect on other people? With that in mind, how can we create a world where human communication is less complicated and more transparent? The Not So Hidden Code aims to ease the pressure of being misunderstood by offering guidance to create better individual experiences of daily communication by uncovering the code of the unconscious, unchoreographed dance we all perform as we speak, listen and respond to.

Treat this book as your guide through the communication jungle and as a starting point for the journey of curiosity and discovery of yourself and others—for the sake of our children and the rest of us, the so-called grown-ups.

Estimated silent reading time 1.5 hrs (2 hrs with tea/ wine and contemplation)

Why Do We Fundraise?

If you asked me just a couple of years ago what charities I support or have supported, mainly I would answer- anything to do with children. Why? I am a Mum. Through my love for my children, I have learnt to be selfless and reached the deepest levels of empathy.

This time around, fundraising and supporting the Alzheimer’s Society feels different. It became a part of healing, finding a new way forward and coming to terms with the passing of a loved one. Every step in the fundraising effort also helps me move closer to closure, finding peace and the ability to turn sorrow into a silver lining. It became a vital lifeline for my mental health, which, honestly took a big hit not so long ago.

So I started running. Oh, it was difficult. Sometimes I felt like a T-Rex, the earth shook beneath my feet, sometimes like Bambi taking its first steps… I carried on regardless, I had a reason. I’d tell myself that one day I’ll run a marathon with a big banner saying Dementia Sucks. I imagined the crowds, the cheers to keep going. And so I made it to a place where the fundraiser became the backbone of my weekly runs. I’d lie if I said it became easy though!

My run this morning felt different. I made sure my blue #MemoryWalk t-shirt was ready. Instead of “I have to go for a run“, the effortless “I want to go for a run” was bursting out of me! The steps felt lighter, and the distance was far from overwhelming. I knew why I was there and with that, I felt closer to the charitable cause and to my experience with Dementia. Most importantly, however, I felt proud that I have found the strength to turn trauma and family grief into positive action. I have learnt that helping others helps us too. Seemingly a simple concept, but it took me a while to really understand it. Glad I had the privilege to do so.

Thank you, from Agata and Family 🙂

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently, there is no cure. We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. After Covid-19, dementia was the leading cause of death in the UK in 2020. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the country currently living with dementia, and their families, to spearhead a campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support now. By taking part and raising sponsorship, or donating to someone who is, you are helping us do this. Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer’s Society. It’s the most efficient way to fundraise, saving time and cutting costs for charities.

Let’s Do Pilates!

Agata Davies

Having to commit to ourselves may just be the hardest thing to do. Our days are filled with attending to the needs of others, responsibilities, tasks and possibly never-ending laundry. I don’t have time to make time, I used to say… Even now, carving out “me time” feels like a task in itself.

And here comes the BUT!

But once we finally do it, doesn’t it feel just divine? An hour of this or a few minutes of that, just for us, just for the pleasure of being in the moment with or without a purpose (staring at the ceiling).

Every Friday at 1.30pm (London time zone) I get together with a small group of people for Pilates “me time”. Join us to stretch, mobilise and strengthen. From my home to yours.

On a Personal Note…

March 2022. I stood in the lift of a nursing home. My eyes felt heavy, the pain of slowly losing Mum dug deep. I looked around the lift and saw a poster which said “I’ve lost my mum to Dementia, now my family is losing me”. I stared at the words, exhausted and frail, tears streaming down my face… I understood. I knew exactly what that meant.

What we have experienced as a family can only be described as traumatic, BUT it was nothing compared to what a person living with Dementia goes through. It is cruel and unfair. And when there were no adequate words left to describe the ordeal, all I could murmour was “It sucks, Dementia sucks”. Agata

How can we create a world in which human communication is less complicated?

Agata Davies, The Author of “The Not So Hidden Code”

I have written a book to answer this very question;

The creative process of writing ‘The Not So Hidden Code’ became an antidote to what felt like a solitary lifestyle of lockdowns and lack of face-to-face interactions. I realised that the book may serve us all a reminder (and a starting point) of the many benefits of effective communication that empowers and engages us with our families, friends and communities, thus creating outcomes we desire.

By setting up a fundraising page on https://www.kickstarter.com/…/the-not-so-hidden-code platform, I have dedicated myself to getting the project launched in January ’22.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the book, cover the costs of the paperback print, including donations to schools in the local area, and fund the costs of recording an audio version to reach a wider audience.Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the listing and the rewards available to you. Apart from the signed copies of the ‘The Not So Hidden Code’, the rewards include beautiful artwork by a famous American painter Berth A Forst, life coaching sessions with Empowerment for Women Coach Madeline Roberts and conflict- solution based online workshops by Leanne Kauenhofen and her Seeing The Signs Program.

If you feel aligned with the project, kindly offer your support.

Should the finances be tight, your help sharing this post with your social media network would be plentiful and greatly appreciated!

Saying YES to ourselves!

Coming Soon!

The Not So Hidden Code

When the thought of writing “The Not So Hidden Code” turned itself from words into action, I must honestly admit that all kinds of doubts and limiting beliefs came flooding in. The fear of the unknown and self-doubt took over. How can I do this? Who can I reach out to and what can we accomplish together to give others the ability to avoid conflict by reading signs? How can I help make our overall communication experience a much more enjoyable experience? Whilst managing my insecurities, a thought came to me that has changed it all—that by simply sharing what I know, our world will be a better place!

Taking action is the next step!

I have created a page on a platform- Kickstarter.com to raise funds for upcoming projects (my book, of course). I am so pleased to have finished the page, contributor pledges, artwork, promo video, etc. Now, I am gathering the courage to click the LAUNCH button.

I say… Monday.

Yes, Monday sounds like a good day!
