YES, I CAN!

Being an entrepreneur means different things to different people. Our journey will be as unique as we are. Our success will depend on our ability to pivot when things do not go to plan and our ability to persevere. Our longevity will hinge on our willingness to roll our sleeves up and get involved in various projects until that one (or more endeavours) will turn our world upside down in the best sense of it!


These abilities, including the support of others like family and friends, are crucial to moving forward. The constructive eye of like-minded, entrepreneurial minds is invaluable, as an honest, solution-based approach can make or break any new business.
With that in mind, all is to gain if one is willing to challenge oneself, get out of the comfort zone and take affordable risks.


So, here I am. The UNTRAINED www.un-trained.com brand is my pride and joy, growing day by day with the sole purpose of motivating others to reach their potential… Motivation can come in many forms, shapes and sizes. So, I thought… why not written on an exercise mat?

The UNTRAINED brand was not even an idea just a year ago. The ability to open online stores and create the supporting digital net of things like autoresponders, shipment, suppliers… etc. did not exist. Today, this is a different story altogether. I keep reminding myself how far I got in just a few months!

So, all I want to say is that YOU CAN DO THIS TOO, you can move forward from where you are at the moment. Put time and effort into your digital education and into creating a network of like-minded people around you. You will need them, even if to cry on their ‘shoulder’ when things get too much!

Finding Motivation When Our ‘GET UP & GO’ Is Nowhere To Be Seen

Why, oh why… oh why… sometimes things feel so difficult.
Just the thought of having to do something, anything at all… fills us with instant resistance.

We have hit the wall, the motivation is gone. Our get up & go… got up and went away. There’s nothing. An empty space, instead of our usual ‘I can move mountains’ self.

Hours are filled finding other things to do, just to avoid doing the things we need to do. Even staring at the ceiling seems like a much better option.
The ‘ceiling stare’ can, however, provide plenty of space for thoughts… Is it burnout? Is it me? Everyone else seems to be doing so great. Why can’t I just get things done? I’m tired. I am so tired.

This is the point where we (you) need to dig deep (or sleep) and find what is holding us back. Is it that project we’ve been working on that is dragging us down? Our job? Relationships? Have I pushed myself too hard? 

Allow for the internal monologue to be intense! Ask questions, demand answers. Demand honest answers, then respect the outcome of the discussion between you, yourself (and the ceiling).

When these moments (days/ weeks) come, some of us escape into silence, a complete unplug, no news, no noise, no social stuff.. nada.
Some, escape into being one with nature. Some escape into sports. Some will just draw the curtains, switch off the phone… maybe even open a bottle of something stronger.

Some of us will escape into music. A powerful tool I use to drag myself out of the abyss of the helpless lack of will to move forward.

Occasionally, we may need to allow ourselves to sit in our feelings, whatever they are, and for however long they demand our attention. Could these feelings be of self-pity, self-doubt, self-punishment? We may need to process these feelings first, before anything else takes place. Can we reach out to anybody? Do we even want to reach out?


As our own ‘head’ can be our worst enemy, we ought to recognise the tricks our mind responds to. We need to understand what makes it tick, what makes it move, and what will help to light our fire again. 


Is it music, inspirational quotes, writing, films, family, friends? Or… could we simply recognise how truly fortunate we are to wake up every morning and be given another chance? A chance to put our best foot forward, make a difference, create something new, start from scratch!


For as long as we wake up, we can find our motivation. We can find it in happiness, we can find it in suffering. Motivation and inspiration are all around us! Even if we need to step back for a moment (or two) to see the world for what it is, and what it can be.

The Core of The Matter

Some people think that the ‘core’ refers to the abdominals, and occasionally the desired ‘six-pack’ is also confused with the core concept.

However, to simplify the matter, we would like to think of the core, as the very centre of our body, and the deepest layer of muscles that help to stabilise the hips, back, torso and even the shoulders. 

The core muscles play a massive role in protecting the spine from excessive load, and transferring force from the lower body to the upper one and return. Quite often overlooked (as some may focused on building strength/ shape in the more visible muscles) it allows for more effective prevention from injuries and helps to reduce, eliminate even intrusive back pains.

Here are the muscles associated with the core: the pelvic floor muscles, transversus abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, rectus abdominis, erector spinae and the diaphragm. You may have met yourself with these names, but if not… that’s okay too.

Now, working towards a stable core is important, but maintaining it with regular exercise is crucial for making our day-to-day tasks easier, managing back pain, preventing injuries and also enhancing performance in sports/ activities. 

Joining classes that focus on core strength training, like Pilates, is a good starting point, but remember that we need to challenge our body to move in any direction, with exercises including bending and twisting. This means joining/choosing a variety of sessions and training methods. 

The best way forward is to communicate with a fitness professional to ensure the correct exercises are used. The instructor will also help to ensure that safety and proper technique is maintained, as they develop a core stability program tailored to our individual needs.

If you have not thought about your core yet, maybe today is a good day to dig in. Book a class, check the local’s gym timetable, find a personal trainer, go on Insta!

And if you consider yourself a ‘core pro’, what about the pelvic floor itself?

All you need for this session is an exercise mat and…your commitment. Together, we will focus on joint stability & mobility, flexibility, and of course our core strength. Every session will look into spinal elongation, and neck mobility, all done by following user-friendly movements based on Pilates principles, and the original repertoire of Matwork Pilates. The meditation aspect of the class will help us to reduce ‘head’ noise, re-align our mind, and re-connect with our bodies.
