Pilates

Tone, strengthen and elongate…

Re-balance the body, create sustainable postural awareness and improve coordination and concentration. Anyone can benefit from Pilates, especially to prevent and recover from pain and injury.

Pilates was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates, who believed mental and physical health were closely connected. His method was influenced by Western forms of exercise, including gymnastics, boxing and Greco-Roman wrestling. Pilates immigrated to the US in the 1920s and opened a studio in New York, where he taught his method, which he called “Contrology” – for several decades.

The aim of Pilates-based exercises is to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and well-being. The exercises are done on a mat (or using special equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair).

Regular Pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. For elite athletes, including dancers, these exercises can complement training by developing whole-body strength and flexibility, and help reduce the risk of injury. It is classed as a muscle-strengthening activity, which can help you maintain a healthy weight. Classes can vary in intensity: they can be gentle, or dynamic and offer a solid workout. If you want to lose weight, you’re advised to combine Pilates with a healthy diet and some aerobic activities, such as swimming, walking and cycling.

Personal Training Drop-In Online Pilates – Fridays 1.30 – 2.15PM

All you need for this session is an exercise mat and your commitment. Together, we will focus on joint stability & mobility, flexibility, and of course our core strength. Every session will look into spinal elongation and neck mobility, all done by following user-friendly movements based on Pilates principles, and the original repertoire of Matwork Pilates. The meditation aspect of the class will help reduce ‘head’ noise and re-align the mind.

Client Feedback

“I can’t say enough good things about working with Agata. I started working with her to build general strength and flexibility as I have a number of old injuries that become aggravated with intense fitness classes. Agata ensures that all classes are practiced safely. She finds the perfect balance of strengthening and challenging my body, but doesn’t push so far as to cause injury. She always provides modifications. In addition, Agata has gone above and beyond helping me outside of the class setting providing suggestions for lifestyle changes to aid my injuries and warm-up exercises to use before all workouts. Finally, Agata has a fantastic attitude! She always keeps class upbeat, positive, and fun! I love starting my day with her classes, and I leave feeling empowered to finish the day strong. I’m especially grateful to work with her during these COVID times as she provides a breath of fresh air.Brigitte H.

Pilates with Agata is brilliant. She pushes us to the limit and makes it fun. I feel the benefits of her class throughout the week.” Audrey

“I started my very first Pilates classes with Agata when I needed to strengthen my back and I’m hooked! When she took a break, I tried a few other teachers but they weren’t as good at explaining the movements . I was really thrilled when she started teaching again, especially as it was around the time I fell pregnant and I really needed someone I could trust, plus she really makes me laugh. Agata is a fantastic Pilates teacher, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.” Helen

Embracing the Work From Home with Pilates

Hi Agata! We’ve been attending your sessions since March and it’s great to see how you have been progressing from one week to another and how you became an agile online coach quickly learning to engage with a virtual community spread across the world. We really enjoy your classes, love the variety of exercises you introduce every week to make the class both challenging and entertaining. Thanks to the fact that the classes finish on time and don’t run over, it is easy to build the schedule around it and establish a daily routine. Your Pilates class is one of the few things we enjoy about working from home and it’s a great endorphin boost that helps us to feel better every day. Personally, I find them not only good for my body but also my mind. 45 minutes with you is my daily meditation time that helps me to disconnect. Sometimes, we miss you on weekends so we started following your YouTube channel as well ;). We are looking forward to more YouTube videos with you so that we can share how great your workouts are with our friends outside Google as well. Looking forward to working out with you for as long as possible!

You are a star – thank you!
